National Truffle Toastie Day
What is National Truffle Toastie Day?
Supporting Australian growers.
A first of it's kind, nationwide celebration of fresh, in-season Australian truffles.
Cafés, restaurants and growers across Australia will be serving truffle toasties and promoting the day on social media - flooding feeds with real truffle at the peak of the season and supporting our Australian growers.

That's it!

- Be part of a national food moment
- Attract customers during winter, the peak of truffle season
- Showcase quality and provenance
- Have your social media posts reshared by us, the Australian truffle industry's national peak body.
Participation Guidleines.
This initiative is about celebrating the real product - at its best!
To participate in National Truffle Toastie Day, we ask that you:
- Use fresh truffle only
- Avoid imitation truffle (truffle oils, aroma, essence, paste or flavouring)
- Where possible, use locally sourced truffles
- Celebrate the source of your truffle
Why Fresh Truffle?
Fresh is best!
Because fresh truffle is:
- A complex and natural aroma with dozens of compounds
- Seasonal and perishable
- Grown right here in Australia
Whereas imitation truffle products:
- Are usually based on a single synthetic compound
- Contain inert truffle content - the aroma comes from the synthetic compound
- Are not seasonal
- Do not reflect the real flavours of truffle
At it's core, National Truffle Toastie Day is about helping customers, new and returning, experience the real thing, while supporting Australian growers by celebrating their premium product.
What Makes a Great Truffle Toastie?
No need to overcomplicate it - the truffle does all the hard work!
- Good bread
- Quality cheese (melty, not overpowering)
- Fresh truffle shaved generously over or into the toastie (careful, too much heat will destroy the aroma)
